Compare both membership tracks, see what each one costs, and find the right fit for your business.
PHCC San Diego offers two paths into the association: contractor membership and affiliate membership. Both give you access to the same trade community, but they're built for different businesses.
This page breaks down PHCC San Diego membership benefits for both tracks, what each one costs, who qualifies, and how to apply.
For business owners holding an active C-20 or C-36 CSLB license who work in the plumbing, heating, or cooling industry. Comes with voting rights, standing to hold office, and a full slate of business support benefits.
For companies that sell to the trades rather than perform the trade work itself. Affiliates get directory visibility, event access, and a direct line to the contractor network, billed monthly or annually.
Not sure which one applies to you? The breakdown below covers both.

Full Active Contractor Membership is open to business owners holding an active C-20 HVAC or C-36 plumbing CSLB license who work in the plumbing, heating, or cooling industry.
Additional membership categories are available for retired contractors, educational associates and instructors, and apprentices. Contact PHCC San Diego to learn more about those options.
Affiliate membership is built for companies that support the plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical trades without holding a contractor license themselves. There are two tracks, based on who you serve.
For companies whose products or services are exclusively within the construction, plumbing, and HVAC industry.
For companies serving multiple industries or client types who still want reach into the contractor market.
Affiliate membership is billed monthly or annually. Monthly or installment plans require a Recurring Payment Authorization Form on file, and credit card payments carry a 3% processing fee. Membership renews automatically until PHCC San Diego receives written cancellation, and deactivation requires 30 days' written notice.
Dues are not reimbursable or a charitable contribution, though they can typically be deducted as a business expense. PHCC estimates that roughly 5% of dues may be allocated to lobbying efforts.
If you hold a C-20 or C-36 license and do the trade work yourself, contractor membership is your track. If you sell products or services to the trades, affiliate membership gets you in front of that network directly. Once you're a member, you'll also show up in the PHCC San Diego member directory, where contractors and their teams can find you.
Both applications are reviewed by the PHCC Association of San Diego Board of Directors, with a response typically within a few business days.
